A Winter Solstice meditation to ground in our stillness and spaciousness
Inspired by 4am ponderings on trusting in the answers within, breath and rewilding our body graphs
Dear wanderer,
I am sending you a deep and nourishing breath. Secretly, I am always hoping that when I do start up or sign off with a deep breath it encourages you to pause and receive that breath with me.
Deep inhale… deep exhale…
I am coming to you today with some early morning ponderings. I am currently off my day job and the spaciousness this has brought into my daily life is sooooo welcomed. I’d like to share a meditation with you today and the inspiration behind it. Honestly, this is exactly what I had in mind when I rushed into planning a Winter Solstice breathwork circle, but I am so glad now that I did listen to the answers within and allowed myself to naturally land here, with you, inviting in stillness and spaciousness through a body practice.
Yesterday, as I was somewhere in between sleep and wakefulness, a state that is called hypnopompia, I found myself practicing Heart Breath to take me back, back into the deep and delicious winter sleep. But this time it was not happening. So I grabbed my phone and wrote down the words that kept swirling around my head.
Trusting in the answers within.
Trusting in the answers within.
Trusting in the answers within.
It was then I realised how accessible it can be with the use of our breath, how accessible trust within us is but, over and over, we refuse to listen. Instead, we keep pushing and forcing stuff the way we see fit. We keep making plans. We keep setting goals out of our mental realm. What I have found is that they are not answers, goals, or plans from within but rather they are answers, goals, and plans we want or think we want. We think they would get us to a place where we could finally be free and wild, be our most untamed selves.
The deeper I allow myself to go, the more I am finding out that being free might not be the answer either. Rather, perhaps it is stillness and spaciousness that we are seeking and have been seeking our entire lives. Perhaps it is the groundedness within our stillness and spaciousness that will inevitably get us where we truly want to go, whether we know where that is or not. But the soul knows. The heart knows. The universe knows.
Perhaps what we need is stillness and spaciousness to be with whatever is present.
Perhaps what we need is stillness and spaciousness to be with the discomfort of it all.
Perhaps what we need is stillness and spaciousness to breathe into the parts of us that feel restless.
Perhaps what we need is stillness and spaciousness to feel it all without the need to fix but rather, witness and be witnessed.
This time of year always feels a bit contradictory. When nature slows down, we are asked to carry on as “normal”, as if a shift did not happen. At times I feel like shouting:
“Wake me up when spring has sprung.”
But what would we be without the darkest of nights?
What would we be without looking back and pondering on the seasons that just passed?
What would we be without holding hope for the lighter days?
What would we be without the whispers slowly emerging from our deep and delicious sleep?
We need the light and the dark.
We need the duality of it to recognise them both within ourselves and others.
We need to submerge if only so we can emerge ever new, ever reborn from the darkest of nights.
The still and spacious darkness reveals the answers within.
The still and spacious darkness reveals the path forward.
The still and spacious darkness reveals what was hidden within us all along.
I've been pondering a lot on the Human Design body graph from the perspective of rewilding. I'll have more to share in the new year but for now, what's really alive in me is this mechanism that is our being that is revealed through a concoction of our birth charts, our body graphs, and our lived experience.
What I keep landing on through my practices is how accessible our breath is as a tool to cultivate a deeper connection with ourselves and through that removing or recalibrating what no longer aligns with us, and getting grounded in what does, getting grounded in the trust in the answers within us.
But that process is not easy.
That process takes time, dedication, and devotion.
That process requires stillness and spaciousness.
That process calls for like-minded and like-hearted beings.
That process asks us to be witnessed in all our messiness and confusion.
That process calls for love and compassion and lots of deep breaths.
With that, I'm inviting you to be, to breathe, to meander with me right here and now. I’ve recorded a Winter Solstice felt sense meditation for you to be within your stillness, to breathe into your spaciousness, and to meander through your inner landscape in honour of this natural still point we are finding ourselves in the Northern Hemisphere.
So, find a quiet space where you won't be disturbed. Pop on your headphones. Let's head into the stillness and spaciousness of our bodies. Let’s meet our stillness and spaciousness during this dark period we are traversing through, figuratively and metaphorically.
You can also listen to and download it on Spotify.
Sending you a deep breath,
Silvia
In case our paths have crossed for the first time today, hi, I’m Silvia, your fellow creative wanderer.
After a lifetime of searching and experimenting with an array of degrees, projects, jobs, and ventures, I finally stumbled on breathwork earlier this year that changed everything. From the very first breathwork session, I knew that this was the medicine my soul wanted to offer to the world. My creative self-expression has been unleashed through the powerful magic of breath, music, and spoken words.
The overarching theme of this space we’re co-creating will be rooted in musings on our devotion to our Sacred Work - a framework based on astrology, Human Design, the Gene Keys, and breathwork that allow us to remember our inner wisdom and our magic, restore our mind, body, and soul connection, and reconnect with the gentle courage to share our selves with the world. I am so excited to be experimenting with this with you even more in 2024.
An invitation to explore your breath with me.
I am currently offering 1-hour 1:1 breathwork sessions for December and January at a very reduced rate of £11 in honour of my training phase.
We meet for an hour on Zoom. We’ll take some space, in the beginning, to be with what’s present for you. This time of year can be a lot. This time of year can be extra stressful, especially with the tricky dynamics we generally have with family. Gift yourself a sacred pause amid all the chaos and allow me to hold space for you to be and breathe.
Whether you have an intention for the session or something specific you want me to hold space for, it would be my absolute honour. We’ll breathe with whatever is present and allow plenty of space at the end to integrate and share whatever has come through.
If you have any questions about the breathwork or the session, feel free to pop them in the comments section.
This post was so grounding to read! I really felt myself noticing my breath and coming back to it as I read 😌 I look forward to trying out this meditation and connecting even deeper with my body. I love those 4am thought spaces ✨
